OIC camp 2009 update

OIC (One-In-Christ) 여름 어린이 연합 캠프가 놀라운 역사가운데 2박3일의 일정으로 시작되었다.

어제 8월9일 (주일) 오후4:30부터 왓슨빌 소재 코이노니아 캠프는 어린이들의 기쁘고 즐거운 찬양소리와 해맑은 얼굴들로 가득하였다. 제1회 OIC 어린이 연합캠프가 “하나님의 군사(God’s Warriors)”라는 주제로 시작된 것이다.

베이지역 에서 11개 교회에서 모여든 141명의 어린이와 자원봉사자들이 지난 해 연합 어린이 가을 축제이후 다시 한번 그리스도의 몸된 교회간 하나가 되는 아름다운 연합의 장을 열어가고 있다. 특별히, 각 교회에서 자원한 34명의 봉사자들은 LA 남가주 어린이전도협회의 전문 캠프팀으로부터 지난 2주간 집중적인 훈련을 받았다.

첫 날, 주강사인 다니엘 엘리엇 목사는 열정을 다한 설교에서 우리 어린이들이 하나님의 전신갑주를 입고 이 땅의 삶에서 승리하는 하나님의 군사가 될 것을 도전하였다. 하나님의 군사가 되기 위한 준비를 직접 체험하게 하는 재미있는 흥미로운6개의 스테이션, 은혜와 감동의 찬양, 맛있는 식사, 쾌적한 숙박시설에서 계속되는 캠프는 화요일 점심식사를 끝으로 모든 프로그램을 마친다.

“그리스도 안에서 하나(One-In-Christ)”가 되고자 모인 베이지역 어린이 사역자들의 연합의 움직임은 예사롭지 않다. 이들 중 많은 사역자들이 평생 어린이 사역만을 고집하기 때문인 것같다. 그래서 이들 어린이 사역자들이 있는 베이지역의 어린이들은 축복받은 아이들임에 틀림없다. 지난 해 2월부터 어린이 사역자들간 모임이 구성되기 시작하자 많은 사역자들이 기다렸다는 듯이 모여들었다. 그리고 서로를 돕기 위해 소유한 모든 자료들을 공개하며 서로를 세워나가고 있다.

이번 여름 연합캠프는 매년 전국에서 여름성경학교 웍샵을 주최하고 있는 남가주 어린이 전도협회(여병헌 목사)의 전문 캠프팀을 초대하여 모든 프로그램을 직접 운영하고 담당하게 하였다. 이같은 운영을 통해 남가주와 북가주의 어린이 사역이 연결되고, 각 지역에서 축적해 왔던 어린이 사역의 노하우가 공유되고 더욱 개발되는 계기를 마련하고 있다.

자그마한 소망이 생긴다. 마치 엘리야가 본 손바닥같은 구름처럼. 전 미주지역, 그리고 세계에 퍼져있는 한인 디아스포라 교회들의 어린이 사역이 연결되고, 연합하여 하나님의 어린군대로 세워지는 꿈이 그것이다. 그리고 이 아이들이 10년후, 20년후 함께 자신의 지역에서 하나님의 나라를 위해 이루어낼 연합의 힘은 엄청난 파도가 이땅을 덮을 것입니다.

► 도착과 출발
8월9일 (주일) 도착: 코이노니아 캠프에 도착시간은 오후 4:30입니다. 미리 오기전 등록을 마친 자녀들은 별도의 등록과정없이, 도착 즉시 자신의 그룹으로 인도될 것입니다. 5:15분 까지 도착과 그룹미팅이 이루어집니다. 저희 OIC 캠프 스탭들이 주차장에 미리 준비하여 기다리고 있을 것입니다.

8월11일(화) 출발: 12:00 점심 식사 후 캠프를 떠나게 됩니다. 부모님들께서는 픽업 시간을 12:30이후로 잡으시면 좋을 것 같습니다. 부모님들께서는 캠프에 자녀들과 함께 머물 수 없습니다. 단, 이미 담당할 일이 주어지 분만 머물 수 있습니다.

제 1회 OIC (One-In-Christ) 2009 어린이 여름 연합캠프를 소개합니다.

8월9일-11일 (주일-화), 2박3일간, 산호세에서 약 1시간거리에 있는 산타 크루즈 인근, 왓슨빌(Watsonville)에서 진행될 제1회 북가주 베이지역 어린이 여름 연합 캠프가 많은 교회들의 관심이 집중된 가운데 준비중에 있다. 지난 25일 (토)에는남가주 어린이전도협회(CEF)의 전문 어린이 캠프팀 스탭 3명이 산호세 한인장로교회(박석현 담임목사)에 모여든 25명의 카운슬러와 스탭들을 직접 훈련하였다.

현재 약 100명의 등록을 받고 있는 이번 어린이 여름 연합캠프의 재정과 홍보를 담당한 정성보집사(임마누엘 선교교회)는 베이지역에서 처음 있는, 이번 어린이 연합캠프는 매우 특별하다고 설명한다. “지난해 10월 31일, 1,300여명의 어린이와 부모들이 뉴비전교회에 모여 만들어 낸 교회들의 아름다운 연합 어린이 가을축제 이후, 다시 한번 이 지역 어린이들을 향하신 하나님의 크고 비밀한 계획을 이번 연합캠프의 준비과정에서부터 느낄 수 있다”고 하였다.

지난 해 2월부터 베이지역의 어린이 사역자들이 OIC(One-In-Christ)라는 이름으로 정기적인 모임을 갖고 있다. 이들은 모여 자신들이 소유한 자료들과 무궁무진한 사역의 아이디어들을 나누며 서로를 돕고 있다. 그전에 알지 못했던 어린이 사역에 관련된 정보를 나누는 것은 물론, 함께 지역 교회의 어린이 사역의 현장을 탐방하고, 인형극을 배우기 위해 남가주 전문 인형극 지도자를 초빙하여 함께 웍샵을 하기도 하였다. 그리고, 자신들의 어린이 사역 노하우를 발표하면서 자체적인 컨퍼런스를 통해 서로를 세우고 있다. 이것이 곧 전체 베이지역 어린이들을 위한 일이기 때문이다.

이번 어린이 연합캠프의 프로그램진행은 뉴비전 교회의 임상명목사 (pastorgarfield@newvisionchurch.org) 가 맡았고, 캐년 크릭교회의 에스더 송 전도사 (esong326@gmail.com)가 등록을, 임마누엘 선교교회의 정성보집사 (kevinschung@yahoo.com)가 재정 및 홍보, 그리고 리빙워드 한인 침례교회의 조이 홍 전도사(joyhong1@sbcglobal.net)가 카운셀러 모집 및 연락을 책임지고 있다.

Minutes of OIC Pastors/Leaders Meeting - June 7, 2009

Thank you Chung JSN, and Pastor Lim for hosting today's meeting and for the delicious dinner!

• OIC Festival Updates
• Pastor Irene decided not to serve as the main speaker for this year’s OIC Festival. Pastor Lim agreed to be the main speaker.
• The worship will be 1 hour long. Idea of blocking the sun light to completely darken the sanctuary for the worship service was brought up. Will discuss with KEPC.
• The event will be from 3PM to 8PM with the worship service starting at 7PM. Registration process will change this year. Pre-registration will be strictly enforced to avoid the ling wait at the registration desk. Name tags will be given to the churches as they pay the fees by one week before.
• Some new ideas were brought up
• Idea of having Cecile have a 30 minutes “theater” was brought up. Pastor Yu will find out how much Cecile would charge for 2, 30 minutes performances.
• Magicians, clowns, talent shows and puppet show as booths or opening for the worship were discussed. Since KEPC has low stage and the room is flat, it may be hard for kids sitting in the back to see magicians. Pastor Yu will contact the puppet team from Indian church about the puppet show.

• OIC Summer Camp Update
• Group spent a good amount of time reviewing the schedule and documents from CEF.
• Pastor Lim will contact CEF for clarifications about schedules, training, meeting room requirements and support personnel requirements.
• Pastor Lim will contact Koinonia for information regarding emergency phone number, check-in and check-out time, meeting rooms and other logistical issues.
• Registration fee will remain at $149.
• Pastor Yu asked everyone to increase PR effort and pass out postcards during VBS

• Non Profit Organization registration – Decided to wait to make the decisions

• Ended with everyone praying for upcoming VBS, OIC Summer Camp and OIC Festival for a few minutes then Pastor Lim closed us in prayers.

1. OIC Festival
· Location: KEPC made a decision to open their church for OIC Festival on 10/31/2009. We thank pastor So Young Choi as well as the education staffs for the decision for OIC festival.
· Janitorial Service: Pastor Yu contacted a janitorial company for estimate and received verbal estimate of $500.
· Canaan Taiwanese Church is joining this year also. This year’s event will definitely multi cultural.

2. Main speaker
· Brent Randall is not available. Cecile Kaiser called Pastor Yu back and said could do message with illusions. Some voiced concerns whether kids in the back could see the illusions and if the illusions will be effective for 1000+ people.
· The idea of having one of the Pastors to be the main speaker was brought back again. Pastor Irene Pak agreed to pray about it. Esther will e-mail Pastor Irene in 1 month to confirm.

3. OIC Summer Camp
· Pastor Yeo from CEF met with Pastor Yu and Esther briefly on Saturday during CEF training at New Vision and made a few recommendations.
o Parents and younger sibling should not attend the camp. They will be distraction than help.
o CEF will give one all day training for counselors. OIC staff should meet with counselors for training and prayers on weekly basis to promote teamwork.
o Elaine Kwon will be in charge of the counselor team of 20 counselors. OIC expects the team will continue to serve the following years' OIC summer camp since they have already set up a team-work through this year's camp.

4. Publicity
· Pastor Yu will make post cards for publicity.
· James will make video to use as promotion.
· We decided to contact churches with no responses:
o Elaine will visit Onnuri Church on Friday and meet with Ahn JDSN.
o John JDSN will contact San Jose First Church and New Heaven Community Church.
o Pastor Yu will contact Richmond Baptist Church and New Community Church.
o Esther will contact KEPC and San Jose New Hope CRC

5. Prayer requests
· Pastor Irene asked for prayers for her sister’s illness and her youth ministry mission trip to Wyoming from 6/20 to 6/27.
· Pastor Yu shared his meeting with Elder John Kim of JAMA and his JAMA staffs who suggested the intercessory prayer movement by the next generation in the Bay area. KM will have a prayer rally in June (23-25th ) at New Life Church. Pastor Yu wants all CM leaders along with youth pastors/leaders and EM pastors to join the prayer conference for the next generations.

1. Pastor Yu opened the meeting with the prayers at 4:15PM.
2. OIC Summer Camp
· Date 8/9 to 8/11/2009 at Koinonia Christian Camp.
· Pastor Yu showed everyone the poster he created and the new one created by Deacon Kevin Chung. After a few minor adjustments, the poster will be sent to everyone.
· Pastor Yu was at San Jose Church Council Meeting on March 25th in Emanuel KPC to informed the senior pastors about OIC and upcoming events and asked for their help with disseminating information to parents and CM leaders in their churches. Pastor Yu will try to get invitation to East Bay pastors meeting to inform them about the summer camp.
· Site visit needs to be scheduled. Pastor Yu will discuss with Pastor Lim and schedule a date for the site visit.
· Need 180 paid attendees to break even. Each church to let Esther know the estimated number of children and volunteers back for planning.
· Next year’s camp – We are committed to Alliance Redwood Christian Camp from 8/8 to 8/11/2010. We already made deposit $1,000 which is from the previous $3,000 deposit to the Alliance camp. The other $2,000 was sent to Koinonia Christian Camp.

3. OIC Festival
a. Discussed option of keeping the event annual vs. bi-annual. The group decided to keep the event annual.
b. Choi JDSN from KEPC shared some concerns about the usage of facilities since the event will be on Saturday and the church will have to be ready for Sunday worship services. Some ideas shared are:
i. Suggested starting the event earlier like 3PM and have everyone out of the building by 8PM so cleaning can be done.
ii. Suggested each church bring cooked meals so it would minimize the use of the kitchen
iii. Pastor Yu suggested using the professional janitorial service.
iv. Possibility of keeping food outside the building. Suggested getting a canopy.
c. Food – Last year, there were some complaints of $5 admission fee for both adults and children. It was suggested we charge admission to children only and offer booths to participating churches to be used as fundraisers for each church. Water and drinks will be sold by OIC. Esther volunteered to organize the food booths.
d. Speaker – Elaine suggested Brent Randell as a speaker for OIC Festival. Pastor Yu to contact him to see if he will be available.
e. Giving Bible coins as prizes were considered. The group thought it would be a nice idea to order personalized OIC coins with gospel verses.
f. OIC Praise team will lead praises again this year. The praise team was considering performing a short musical – 15 minutes total – with a powerful message. It was suggested to keep the consistent theme between the message and the musical. Some ideas were brought up to tie the theme with the summer camp. “Hero” theme was brought up which everyone liked but all agreed to share more ideas via e-mail.

In 2009 for the first time, bay area churches are coming together this summer to offer children OIC Summer Camp. Children from Second grades to Fifth grades (Fall 2009) are invited to 2 nights and 3 days program led by staffs from Child Evangelism Fellowship from Southern California.

1) Basic information is as above.

2) Adjusted /discounted Price from the camp:
Adult: $150 (was $191) Child (6-12): $105 (was $150) Child (under 5): Free
We will start from $165 as a flat fee regardless of age.

3) Estimated summer camp occupancy: 400 people max.

4) Advertise to parents since there’s extra space: parents may come too, but it would be better for the kids to be with other kids in the cabins.

5) We have to send $4,218.75 by February 20, 2009.

6) Age limit: Grades range from 2nd to 6th to be in the fall (meaning 1st -5th before summer vacation)

7) Estimated number of participants from those who attended the meeting:

9) Idea: Advertise on Newspaper for credibility/publicity that needs about $300. Or, we ma advertise through emails. Also, writing newspaper articles about the camp will be also a good way of advertising.

10) Someone needs to make posters to post them on public locations: Korean markets, Academy/cram schools, and church bulletin boards. Volunteer is in need soon for the poster.

11) Pastor Lim (New Vision) will email us a revised application form that includes regulation/safety information.

12) Esther Song will make a blog for OIC summer camp which will include payment information, contact #, etc.

13) Cabins (128) – No restroom inside (needs to use public restroom outside).Lodge (149) – Includes restroom inside. It can fit 8 people.* There will be no fee difference between cabins and lodges. But, early birds will get priority to choose lodge or cabin.

14) Pre-visit the camp location (Redwood Alliance) tentatively on February 28, 2009 (Saturday morning).

2. Place: Immanuel PC-since we need gym for games, we may look for another church because Immanuel has no gym. But, we need to look into the inside of the church later.

2009 Children's Summer Camp Information

In 2009 for the first time, bay area churches are coming together this summer to offer children OIC Summer Camp. Children from Second grades to Fifth grades (Fall 2009) are invited to 3 nights and 4 days program led by staffs from Child Evangelism Fellowship from Southern California.

OIC (One In Christ)어린이 연합축제 및 부흥회를 마치고….

OIC 로 교회들이 하나가 되어 할로윈 날에 어린 자녀들에게 축제를 선물하다….
1. 날짜: 10월 31일(금), 2008년 오후 5:00-9:00 @ 뉴비전교회
2. 참가규모: 1300명이상이 참가(아동, 부모 모두 포함)
3. 17개 교회, 1개의 크리스챤 스쿨
4. 총 27여개의 신나는 게임운영
5. 준비과정: 지난 2월부터 시작된 어린이사역자 네트웍의 모임에서 할로윈 때 어차피 각 교회마다 하는 프로그램을 하나로 묶어 더 좋은 프로그램을 만들어 보자는 의견이 나와 올해 초부터 시작된 행사—예배와 게임을 주축으로 놓고 각 교회가 헌신하고 싶은 부분들에 자발적인 참여를 통해 행사가 준비되어갔다. –임마누엘장로교회(손원배 담임목사) 에서는 어린이 성가대, 리빙워드 한인 침례교회(박지원 담임목사)는 찬양팀과 율동팀의 연합조직을 운영, 연습을, 세계선교침례교회(성도현 담임목사)에서는 전체 게임의 조직 및 운영, 등록과 이름표 제작은 임마누엘 선교교회(강옥만 담임목사), 그리고 장소의 제공과 모든 식사 및 간식의 제공을 뉴비전교회(진재혁 담임목사)에서 맡는 등 각 교회가 모두 십시일반으로 의견과 노력을 한데 모아 최대한 연합의 장점을 살려 어린 자녀들에게 인생에 가장 기억에 남는 축제 및 부흥회를 만들어 주고자 노력하였다

6. 의미:
· 분리된 교회들이 하나가 될 수 있었다—각 교회 사역자들이 오직 한 마음, 한 목적으로 함께 모여 일을 감당하는 아름다운 모습을 볼 수 있었다.
· 대형교회들이 작은 규모의 어린이들을 돕고 섬기는 귀한 기회가 되었다. 자신들의 프로그램만으로도 연합의 필요를 갖지 않을 수도 있었으나, “나누고 연합하자”는 마음으로 대형교회의 섬김이 좋은 귀감이 되었다.
· 각 교회마다 실상은 뒷전에 머물러 있던 어린이 사역이 전면에 드러나는 효과를 가져와 그 중요성이 다시금 인식되는 계기가 되었다.
· 어린이 사역자들 자신들이 어린이 사역을 보는 눈이 확대되었다. 개 교회의 영역을 넘어서서 연합하는 어린이 사역을 통해 보다 큰 사역의 그림들을 볼 수 있었다. 그야말로 지역의 부흥이 어린이 사역을 통해 시작될 수 있다는 기대감이 생기게 되었다.
· 다음 세대의 사역이 연합으로 준비되고 있음을 인식하게 되었다. 어린이의 부흥이 곧이어 이어지는 청소년, 대학생 세대의 부흥을 준비하는 것인 것을 알게 되었다. 지금 어린나이지만, 이 지역에서 교회의 경계를 넘어서 연합된 세대가 지금부터 자라나고 있다. 10년후 20년후에 우리가 보는 것은 바로 베이지역에서 그리스도 안에서 연결되고 연합된 청년의 세대이다. 이지역의 부흥은 이런 의미에서 시간 문제라는 인식이 생겼다. 이 지역 부흥은 연합이 그 열쇠이다. 그것도 어린세대부터 시작된 연합이다.
· 대부분이 1.5세 젊은 세대의 부부들에 대해 교회간 연합의 아름다운 모습을 보일 수 있었고, 자녀교육을 위한 신앙적인 도전을 직접 할 수 있었다.
· 타민족교회의 참여를 통해 이 지역 전체의 모든 민족교회 부흥을 위해 한국교회가 초석이 되는 그림을 갖게 되었다—베트남교회와 미국인 교회 두교회가 참여하여 특별공연뿐 아니라, 사역자들이 처음부터 함께 사역을 위해 모이고 교제함으로써, 한국교회와 다른 민족교회간 교류가 생기게 되었다. 이를 통해, 궁극적으로는 한국교회의 연합이 각 나라 민족교회간 연합으로 이어져 진정한 의미에서 이 지역 전체의 모든 민족교회의 부흥이라는 마지막 그림을 보게 되었다.
· 앞으로 모임을 계속 되며, 다음해는 이미 8월 19일-22일 3박 4일간 어린이 연합 여름 캠프를 위해 이미 장소를 정해놓고 신청에 들어가고 있다.
